- Read the weight and sleep uses.
Zepbound’s approval then covered weight management; it also covered adults who had obesity alongside obstructive sleep apnea of moderate or severe intensity.
Obstructive sleep apnea means repeated breathing interruptions during sleep.
Read the study result alongside the help people received
Adults who did not have diabetes took part in SURMOUNT-1 over 72 weeks. People were put into groups receiving different amounts of tirzepatide or a dummy injection with no study drug. Depending on the amount of tirzepatide, the groups’ average losses were between 15.0% and 20.9%. The dummy-injection group lost 3.1% on average.
The maker supported the study. The injections came with regular visits and guidance on eating and activity habits.
In the Zepbound trials, nausea affected about 25 to 29 in 100 people on the medicine, compared with 8 in 100 on a dummy injection.
