Trace the licence to its public record
Check the clinician first
- Get the full name and role.
Ask which state record covers the person who would assess you.
- Use your location.
As of 26 September 2026, federal health guidance ties the clinician’s licence or other legal permission to the patient’s state during the visit.
- Look beyond the advert.
Search the state medical board’s records for the doctor’s licence. Look there for published actions over the doctor’s conduct, too.
Then check the pharmacy
- Get its name before paying.
The pharmacy making or sending a medicine may be different from the service taking the booking.
- Search the pharmacy record.
The Food and Drug Administration provides links to state pharmacy records. Follow the link for your state and enter the pharmacy’s name in its search.
- Ask about unclear entries.
A listed licence does not prove that every prescription is being filled properly.
